ORLANDO, Fla. — Editor's note: This story is available as a result of a content partnership between WFTV and the Orlando Business Journal. A new Florida committee bill designed to grab a chunk of the lucrative tourist development tax collections across the state -- raising red flags for Orlando's tourism industry leaders -- may be dead. Florida House Regulatory Reform & Economic Development Subcommittee bill, PCB RRS 23-02, was seeking to tap into the resort taxes to fund Visit Florida, the state's marketing agency, for three years, and dedicate a majority of those funds to assist rural counties, state parks and forests, said a state analysis.
